Whistle 3

Repeated innovation and enhanced engineering has lead Whistle to release their third version of their leading product, dubbed the Whistle 3 GPS Pet Tracker and Activity Monitor. This device has every feature you and your dog could ever dream of. Whistle 3 can track your dog via GPS and cellular technology anywhere in the United States. They also allow you to track all of your dog’s activity within a 24 hour period, and the battery won’t die for a full seven days. The Whistle 3 dog tracker is accompanied by an app that you can easily set up on your phone. The app will monitor your dog’s activity and rest, track their location via Google Maps, and alert you if they stray too far from their safe spaces. It will even let you know how much activity your dog needs depending on their size, age, and breed; you can then set fitness goals and keep up with their daily activity.  The Whistle 3, unlike any of its predecessors, also has Bluetooth and wifi capabilities to both save its battery, and keep accurate readings on your pup. Weighing less than an ounce, it’s ideal for any dog over 8 pounds.

The AKC Collar goes one step further and monitors the temperature around your dog; it will then alert you if they’ve been in hot or cold conditions for too long. Just like the Whistle GPS system, the AKC collar uses cellular networks to help it track your dog’s location (provided by AT&T). It can easily update you on your dog’s location anywhere in the US.   Pod 2 GPS

pod gps

The Pod 2 works a bit differently than the previous GPS tracker’s we’ve reviewed. It’s a great product to try out if you want to keep an eye on your dog all day while you’re at work or out of the house. Your dog’s activity and historical tracking information is stored on the pod, and then you simply sync your app with the pod via Bluetooth when you next see your dog. The pod is ideal for both cats and dogs, weighing 1 ounce, and having a 2-inch length; we have found that it can be a bit too bulky for smaller cats and dogs.

  Features

The pod has a lot to offer both cat and dog owners that want a simple way to keep track of everything their furry friends do throughout the day. Just like the other tracking devices, you can set safe zones on your app and you’ll receive notifications to your app if your dog or cat strays too far. The safe zones are simply circular radius’ around the address you choose as your safe zones, they won’t be exact to the measurements of your yard. The tracker uses GPS, Wifi, and Cellular networks to pinpoint your pets (in 175 countries), due to its high accuracy, however, it will take some time (a few minutes) to locate your pet. It also records your dogs running, walking, and rest times for an 8 hour period that you can look over when the collar syncs with your mobile app. You’ll also be happy to hear that the tracker is completely waterproof and impact resistant, you won’t have to replace it no matter how much water your pet gets into!

The battery for the Pod 2 lasts up to 5 days, and there are two batteries included that you can interchange; you’ll always have a fully charged battery for your furry friends. The GPS can also light up with a surprisingly bright LED light in case you lose your pets in the dark.

   Value

The Pod 2 is one of the pricier trackers out there, but it is well worth the money. On the surface it may appear to be twice the price of many of the other trackers we’ve covered; however, the first year’s subscription for the service is completely free with Pod 2. In which case, after one year of use you’ve saved a ton of money on the subscription, and you’ll know whether or not you want to continue paying for the service. All in all, this is a fantastic product; the mobile app is easy to use, and the GPS location tracking is very precise. We would recommend this product to any dog or cat owner that need precision and peace of mind.

The battery lasts 2-4 days, and it can track your pet just about anywhere. We found this GPS beneficial for both dogs and cats considering its lightweight materials.
